Police Arrest Suspect at Ablekuma for Possession of Suspected Counterfeit Dollars and Unauthorised Firearm

The Ghana Police Service, through the National Operations Directorate Surveillance Unit, has arrested a suspect in Ablekuma for possession of suspected counterfeit foreign currency and an unauthorised firearm.
The suspect, identified as Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado, was apprehended following intelligence that a self-styled fetish priest in the area was allegedly involved in criminal activities and in possession of a firearm, posing a potential threat to public safety.
During a search conducted in the suspect’s room, officers recovered quantities of United States dollar notes in one-hundred-dollar denominations, suspected to be counterfeit.
Additionally, police retrieved:
- A pair of handcuffs
- A black vest
- A Kuzey A100 blank pistol
- Fifty-eight rounds of 9mm blank ammunition
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish the source and authenticity of the currency, as well as the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm and other recovered items.
Police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
