Police Arrest 9 Suspects in Connection with Robbery and Murder Incidents in Fiapre

The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested nine suspects following a violent robbery and murder incident at Fiapre-Zongo, a suburb within the Sunyani Municipality.
Incident and Casualties
The attack occurred on August 5, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM, targeting a mobile money vendor. Although police responded swiftly to a distress call, the perpetrators had already fled the scene.
The assault resulted in multiple casualties:
Amina Abu (30), a mobile money vendor, was robbed of GHS 30,000.00 in cash.
Khadija Abu (23), Anifa Tanko (24), and Ibrahim Osei (40) were all struck by pellets from the gunfire.
Ibrahim Osei emerged from his room while the suspects were fleeing, was shot, and died upon arrival at the hospital.
An unidentified man was found with severe injuries and a black mask lying beside him behind Ibrahim Osei’s house; he later died while receiving treatment.
All five victims were rushed to the Regional Teaching Hospital for medical attention. Furthermore, six spent BB casings were recovered from the scene and retained as forensic exhibits. The bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigations
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects arrived at the location after getting off a cattle truck heading toward Berekum. Following an alert issued to the Twumasikrom checkpoint to intercept two vehicles carrying cattle, nine suspects were apprehended to assist with the investigation and will be processed for prosecution.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the Bono Regional Police Command, authorities assured the public that efforts are actively underway to track down and apprehend any remaining perpetrators still at large.
