Oliver Barker-Vormawor Apologizes for Bribery Allegations Against Appointments Committee

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a social activist and lawyer, has apologized for a comment that seemed to imply members of the Appointments Committee took bribes from ministerial nominees in exchange for approval.

He appeared before the Committee on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, and explained that his post was not meant to disparage the Committee members.

Barker-Vormawor stated that he is willing to delete the post from social media, saying “I’m happy to pull it down as the conversation has indicated and clarity has been brought to it.”

 

He maintained that his post was misinterpreted and denied authoring another post that alleged NDC members on the Committee took bribes from nominees. Instead, he claimed that the post was orchestrated from an NPP Facebook platform.

“So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL?”
