Obuasi Government Hospital Appeals for Completion of Stalled Projects and More Staff

Obuasi Government Hospital has appealed to the appropriate authorities to expedite work on its stalled infrastructure projects and deploy more personnel to improve healthcare delivery in the facility.

The appeal was made by the immediate past Medical Superintendent, Kwadwo Asamoah Nyarko-Jectey, during his retirement send-off ceremony in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to Adom News, Dr. Nyarko-Jectey said the hospital could not be considered fully up to standard until the abandoned projects are completed.

According to him, medical equipment intended for the new halls and units has already been procured and is awaiting installation once construction resumes and the facilities become operational.

He stressed that completing the projects would significantly improve healthcare services and create more space for efficient patient care.

Dr. Nyarko-Jectey also identified inadequate staffing as a major challenge confronting the hospital and the broader health sector.

He cited limited specialist services, insufficient numbers of health professionals and low remuneration as factors affecting effective service delivery.

The retired Medical Superintendent therefore urged government and relevant authorities to prioritise the completion of the stalled infrastructure projects while strengthening the hospital’s workforce to meet the growing healthcare needs of residents in Obuasi and surrounding communities.
