Obaapa Christy Unfazed by TGMA 2026 Snub, Says Her Focus Remains on Ministry and Souls

Gospel musician Rev. Obaapa Christy has maintained a positive and graceful stance despite failing to secure any nominations at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In a statement addressed to her fans and supporters, the celebrated gospel artiste urged them not to be disheartened or troubled by her absence from the nomination list.

She explained that while awards and recognition are appreciated, they have never been the driving force behind her music career. Her primary mission, she said, has always been to touch souls, spread the message of God’s love, and lead people to repentance, hope, and salvation.

“…therefore, we encourage all fans not to be troubled by her absence in any of the GMA categories. What is destined for you will always come to you at the appointed time,” the statement read.

Obaapa Christy expressed gratitude for the continued love and support from her fans, describing it as the greatest source of encouragement for her ministry.

“We would like to kindly assure everyone that Rev. Obaapa Christy remains deeply committed to the true purpose of her calling, using gospel music as a tool to touch lives, heal the brokenhearted, and lead many people back to God through repentance, hope, and salvation. Her greatest fulfillment is seeing lives transformed through the message carried in her songs,” she added.

Meanwhile, Charterhouse, the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, have dismissed allegations of deliberately limiting slots for gospel categories. They insist that all nominations were determined strictly on merit, eligibility, and performance over the review period.

Obaapa Christy’s mature response to the snub has been widely praised on social media, with many fans commending her humility, dedication to her calling, and unwavering focus on spiritual impact rather than awards.
