Nutrifoods Ghana Recalls All Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix Due to Bloating Concerns Following FDA Directive

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, a joint venture between Olam and Sanyo Foods, has initiated a voluntary recall of all batches of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, including 210g and 400g cans, as well as 380g and 1.05kg pouches with batch numbers ranging from 20072501/P1 to 24072502/P2, set to expire between January 20 and January 24, 2027.

The recall, announced on August 1, 2025, follows a directive from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and National Security after consumer reports of bloating in some products, raising potential health concerns.

The company has halted production of the affected lines and is urging consumers to immediately stop using the products and return them to Nutrifoods’ Tema office at 17 Dadeban Road, North Industrial Area, Accra, or any authorized distributor nationwide for replacements.

Consumers can contact Nutrifoods at 050 538 4429 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM) or via email at [email protected] for further instructions. Jay Jagadip Anjaria, Business Head of Nutrifoods Ghana, expressed regret for the inconvenience, emphasizing the company’s commitment to food safety and cooperation with the FDA to resolve the issue promptly.

The FDA is currently inspecting Nutrifoods’ facilities to ensure regulatory compliance, with investigations ongoing to determine the root cause of the bloating.

This follows a prior suspension of the 210g and 400g canned products in January 2025 due to compliance issues.

Nutrifoods has assured consumers and trade partners that it is working to recover all affected products and replace them seamlessly, maintaining its commitment to high-quality, safe products.
