NPP’s Chairman Buga Accuses Mahama of Supporting Ablekuma North Violence

Alhaji Massaudu Osman, National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), known as Chairman Buga, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama for failing to condemn the violence during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on July 11, 2025.
In an interview on Iqra Radio, Buga alleged that Mahama’s silence indicates his support for the actions of National Democratic Congress (NDC) thugs, who reportedly assaulted NPP members, including former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson and the party’s Deputy National Organiser.
Buga contrasted Mahama’s inaction with former President Nana Addo’s response to the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence, which included condemning the incident, forming a committee, and disbanding NPP vigilante groups. Labeling Mahama’s silence a lack of statesmanship, Buga urged the President to act as a “father for all” Ghanaians, warning that his legacy will be shaped by his response to such incidents.
The remarks were made amid the NPP’s National Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
