NPP Flagbearer Aspirants to Ballot for Ballot Positions Today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will conduct balloting for its five presidential primary aspirants today, Friday, October 10, 2025, to determine their order on the ballot paper ahead of the January 31, 2026, flagbearer election.

The National Elections Committee will meet the aspirants or their representatives at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters at 11:00 a.m., following successful vetting for all five on October

Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed affirmed that all who met the July 29 guidelines paying GH¢500,000 development fees and GH¢100,000 filing fees must participate, per the party constitution: “Nobody is going to be excused from any specific guideline… Every member who wants to lead the party into the 2028 elections must abide by it.”

The aspirants are former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Bosomtwe MP Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former General Secretary Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

Agyepong’s campaign communications director, Paul Abdul Rahman Issah Dowuona, confirmed participation despite controversy over the GH¢4 million development fee (later clarified as GH¢500,000), with Agyepong opposing it as a contest prerequisite but committing to party support post-vetting.

The balloting, per NPP guidelines, ensures a fair draw for ballot positions, with the notice of poll to follow on October 17.

This step follows vetting completion on October 8, setting the stage for a competitive primary to select the 2028 candidate.
