NPP Defends Attorney General Amid Calls for Resignation

Party Says Calls are Misplaced and Unwarranted, Hails AG's Success in Protecting Public Resources

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated categorically that calls for the resignation of the Attorney General are misplaced, unwarranted, and will not hinder the prosecution of Cassiel Ato Forson and his associates. According to the NPP, if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Ato Forson believe no loss was occasioned to the state due to his conduct, they should have faith in our judicial system and cease their malicious orchestrations aimed at discrediting our judicial system, which seek to prevent him from standing trial to its conclusion.

Speaking at a press conference in response to the NDC at NPP headquarters in Accra, Lawyer Frank Davies, Director of Legal and Constitutional Affairs for the NPP, said the Attorney General would not resign and would continue to remain witty, resolute, and focused in the delivery of his work. He added that the wheels of justice may grind slowly, but they eventually come to a halt. He noted that, on record, the current Attorney General, Hon. Godfred Yeboah Dame, has been one of the most successful in the 4th Republic, both in and out of court. He pointed out that, as noted by the President during the last State of the Nation Address, he has successfully saved the state over GHS10 trillion and his commitment to protecting public resources is evident in his prosecution of public officials whose acts resulted in financial loss.
