NPP Communications Director Calls for Removal of Afi Agbenyo from Electoral Commission

The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called for the removal of Afi Agbenyo from her position at the Electoral Commission, questioning her suitability for the role.
According to Mr Aboagye, Afi Agbenyo previously served as a spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto Committee, a background he argues raises concerns about her appointment.
He further claimed that since the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings, no government had appointed a politically affiliated individual to serve as Electoral Commission Chairperson, alleging that the NDC government had departed from that precedent.
His comments have reignited debate over political neutrality, public confidence and the independence of Ghana’s Electoral Commission.
