Nigerian Arrested for Allegedly Wearing Ghana Police Uniform in Viral Videos

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a Nigerian national, Esther Obasi, for allegedly wearing official police uniforms in viral videos that sparked widespread public concern.
The arrest was carried out by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after the videos surfaced online, showing the suspect dressed in Ghana Police camouflage and standard black uniform without authorisation.
According to police, the incident raised serious concerns over impersonation and the unauthorised use of official security attire.
Investigators tracked the suspect to Prestea, where she was subsequently apprehended.
Authorities further disclosed that the police officer whose uniform was used has been identified and will face internal disciplinary action.
The suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
The Ghana Police Service has since cautioned the public against the misuse of police uniforms, warning that anyone found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
