The East Mamprusi Municipal Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has alerted residents, particularly communities along the White Volta River, about a possible controlled spillage from the Bagré Dam in Burkina Faso.
In a notice dated August 8, 2026, NADMO said information from the Water Resources Commission indicates that the dam’s water level currently stands at 232.93 metres, with the reservoir potentially rising to the 234-metre spill level.
According to the alert, controlled spillage could begin from Tuesday, August 11, 2026, if the reservoir reaches the required level.
NADMO has therefore urged residents in potentially affected communities to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions and directives from NADMO and other relevant authorities.
Residents have also been advised to avoid unnecessary activities close to the White Volta River.
The notice, signed by Divine Baba Nibi, Municipal Director of NADMO at the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly, concluded with an appeal to residents to “stay alert” and “stay safe.”
