MTTD Arrests 13 Drivers Over Illegal Use of Sirens on Kasoa–Winneba Highway

The Central East Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department has arrested 13 drivers for illegally using sirens and emergency lights during a special enforcement exercise along the Kasoa–Winneba Highway.

The operation, carried out on May 30, 2026, at Budumburam, formed part of ongoing efforts by the police to enforce road traffic laws and improve discipline among motorists in the region.

According to officials, the drivers were found using unauthorised sirens and emergency lamps in breach of Regulations 65 and 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2180).

Police said members of the MTTD task force educated the offenders on the relevant laws before processing them in line with legal procedures.

The unauthorised emergency devices were removed from the affected vehicles, while the drivers were issued warning letters and cautioned against repeating the offence.

The Central East Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing traffic regulations and maintaining safety and order on Ghana’s roads.
