Mercy Attobrah’s Brace Secures 2-0 Win for Black Princesses Over Tunisia in U-20 WWCQ First Leg

Ghana’s Black Princesses took a significant step toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 2-0 victory against Tunisia in the first leg of their qualifier on Saturday, September 20, powered by a brace from Al Ahly striker Mercy Attobrah.
Making her debut start under head coach Charles Sampson, Attobrah opened the scoring within five minutes, leading an attack alongside Linda Owusu Ansah and Zeinab Haruna. Despite multiple chances, Ghana’s finishing faltered, keeping the score at 1-0 by halftime. Attobrah sealed the win in the second half with a stunning 20-yard strike, leaving the Tunisian goalkeeper with no chance.
The Black Princesses nearly added a third goal when Sarah Nayrko’s close-range effort went wide. The victory sets up a favorable position for the return leg in Accra on Sunday, September 28, as Ghana aims to secure an eighth consecutive appearance at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, a streak unbroken since their debut in 2010.
