Mempeasem Mourns: Missing Woman Found Dead in Plantain Grove Amid Rising Concerns

The community of Mempeasem in Ghana’s Eastern Region is reeling after the body of a middle-aged woman, missing for three days, was discovered face down in a plantain grove on July 20, 2025.

The woman’s disappearance prompted a frantic search by residents, but hopes of finding her alive were shattered when locals found her lifeless body.

Eyewitnesses reported no visible signs of struggle or injury, and the cause of death remains unknown pending an autopsy. The remains have been moved to a morgue for preservation and further examination.

Residents are urging the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations into this case, which marks the fourth instance in a week of a missing person being found dead under mysterious circumstances in the area.

The series of unexplained deaths has heightened fear, with growing calls for enhanced security measures to prevent further tragedies.
