Medeama SC have begun the new season on a winning note after defeating Nations FC 2-0 to lift the 2026 Champion of Champions trophy at TNA Park in Tarkwa.
The Ghana Premier League champions took control of the contest in the 28th minute after Nations FC were penalised for a handball inside the penalty area.
Fatawu Sulemana stepped up to convert the resulting penalty and give Medeama a 1-0 lead.
Medeama maintained their dominance after the break and eventually doubled their advantage through former Nations FC player Emmanuel Annor, who calmly finished to secure victory for the hosts.
The triumph gives the Yellow and Mauve their first silverware of the new campaign and provides an early boost ahead of a busy season that includes continental football.
Medeama will now turn their attention to the CAF Champions League, where they are scheduled to host TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first leg of their preliminary-round tie on September 6.
Meanwhile, FA Cup holders Nations FC will also begin their continental campaign this week. They travel to Mali to face Diarra FC in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie on September 5.
The Champion of Champions traditionally serves as the curtain-raiser for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, which is set to begin this weekend.
