Maxwell Kofi Jumah Warns GIHOC Employees: No Strike, or Face Termination
No Strike, or Face Termination: Maxwell Kofi Jumah's Warning
In a stern warning, GIHOC Distilleries Managing Director Maxwell Kofi Jumah has threatened to terminate employees who participate in Organized Labour’s nationwide strike against Galamsey. Jumah claims the strike has no bearing on GIHOC employees.
However, this isn’t the first time Jumah’s leadership has been contentious. In May 2023, GIHOC employees protested, calling for his resignation due to unpaid salaries, poor working conditions, and the company’s significant debt.
Organized Labour has scheduled the nationwide strike for October 10, 2024, citing dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s response to their demands on illegal mining (Galamsey) and its effects on Ghanaian citizens and water bodies.
