Manchester City Star Rodri Reported to Police by Neighbors Over Drone Privacy Concerns

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly been reported to Greater Manchester Police after neighbors accused him of invading their privacy by flying a drone close to their apartment windows.

According to local reports, residents in the area where Rodri resides lodged a formal complaint, claiming the drone flew within approximately one meter of a neighbor’s window. The incident allegedly occurred while one neighbor was relaxing at home on a high floor, leading to feelings of being watched and significant discomfort.

One neighbor described the experience as particularly unsettling due to the height of the apartment, where such proximity from a drone would not normally be expected or visible from outside.

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that a complaint has been received and that officers are currently investigating the matter to determine the circumstances surrounding the drone’s operation.

Under UK civil aviation rules enforced by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), drone operators must maintain a safe distance from people, buildings, and property, and avoid flying in a way that could endanger or invade privacy. Drones are prohibited from flying within 50 meters of people, vessels, vehicles, or structures not under the operator’s control, with stricter rules applying in residential areas.

No official statement has yet been issued by Rodri, his representatives, or Manchester City regarding the incident. The player, widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football, has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing at this stage, and the investigation remains in its early phases.

The complaint highlights growing concerns among residents about the increasing use of recreational drones in densely populated urban areas, where privacy expectations are high.
