Man Who Reported Assault Ends Up in Custody After Alleged Revenge Attack on Accused

A man who went to the police as a victim of assault has been detained after allegedly launching a violent revenge attack on the person he had accused.

Ernest Frimpong, a sprayer from Atwima Koforidua, reported to the Akropong Police Station on Thursday, March 26, 2026, around 10:15 a.m., with a forehead injury. He claimed that earlier that morning, around 8:30 a.m., Nana Amankwa Junior had stabbed him with a nail.

Police issued him a medical form to seek treatment and assist with investigations.

However, barely ten minutes later, officers received another report that Frimpong had allegedly attacked Junior in retaliation. According to police, Frimpong stabbed and slashed Junior multiple times.

Officers quickly responded to a clinic in Atwima Koforidua, where Junior had been rushed. He was found in the emergency ward with deep cuts to his head and thigh and was in critical condition receiving treatment.

A medical report form was also issued for Junior to support the ongoing investigation.

Frimpong has since received treatment for his own injuries and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The incident is being treated as a serious case of assault, and police say they are working to establish the full sequence of events.

This unusual turn of events has highlighted the dangers of vigilante-style retaliation and the importance of allowing the police to handle disputes through due process.
