Man Dies After Alleged Stabbing by Girlfriend at Ofankor Barrier

A 33-year-old man, Enoch Abrokwa, has died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, during a disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The Tesano Divisional Police Command is investigating the incident, which occurred on Friday, 9 October 2026, at the deceased’s business premises.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations suggest that a misunderstanding between the two escalated, leading to the alleged stabbing with a piece of broken glass.
Abrokwa was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina and later referred to the Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines.
He died on 14 October while receiving treatment, five days after the incident.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 21 October, the police said Emmanuella was arrested on 10 October after the complainant and three other persons brought her to the police.
The suspect reportedly admitted to stabbing Abrokwa and was subsequently put before the court. She has been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear on 3 November 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence.
It has also appealed for public cooperation as investigations continue and the case proceeds in accordance with the law.
