Mahama Urges Ghanaians: Choose Words That Unite, Not Divide

President John Mahama is calling on all Ghanaians to think before they speak, urging everyone to use words that heal rather than hurt. He made this plea at the recent National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, emphasizing the importance of compassion, truth, and honesty in everything we do.

The President highlighted the event’s theme, “Reset, Reflect and Review for National Prosperity.” He explained that this day isn’t just about thanking God, but also about renewing our commitment to values that help Ghana grow and stay united.

“True thanksgiving isn’t just about what we say; it’s about how we live,” President Mahama stated, quoting James 2:17: “Faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.”

He stressed how powerful our words can be, especially when there’s political or social tension. “As we pray and give thanks today, let’s also promise to live our faith through truth, love, and service to our nation. Let’s speak words that heal, not words that harm,” he urged.

The President also emphasized the need for honesty, humility, and integrity in both our personal and public lives. He believes that for Ghana to truly transform, leaders must be ethical and accountable.

“Let’s be honest in our dealings, generous in our compassion, and upright in our behavior,” he added. “We must hold those in charge, including myself, to the highest standards of integrity and humility.”

The event brought together religious leaders, government officials, and citizens from all walks of life, serving as a time for shared reflection, spiritual renewal, and a reminder of the nation’s moral values.
