Mahama Expresses Confidence in Stable Power Supply Amid System Upgrade

President has expressed optimism about a more stable electricity supply across the country as government intensifies efforts to improve power delivery.
His remarks followed a visit to the on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as part of his “Resetting Ghana” tour.
During the visit, the President inspected transformers being deployed under a nationwide upgrade programme aimed at strengthening the electricity distribution system.
According to him, approximately 2,500 transformers have been procured and are currently being installed in the first phase of the intervention.
He explained that the initiative focuses on replacing old and faulty transformers to enhance the reliability and quality of power supply, adding that the programme will be rolled out in phases across the country.
Addressing public concerns over recent power interruptions, President Mahama clarified that the outages are linked to ongoing technical works and system upgrades, rather than a return to prolonged power challenges.
The government, he noted, remains committed to ensuring a stable and efficient electricity supply to support economic growth and improve living conditions.
