Mahama Establishes 12-Member Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE)

President John Dramani Mahama has constituted a 12-member Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to provide high-level, independent advice on Ghana’s economic management and reform agenda.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday, January 15, 2026, by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

According to the statement, the establishment of PAGE forms part of government’s commitment to restoring macroeconomic stability, strengthening fiscal sustainability, and accelerating inclusive, job-rich economic growth. The work of the group will be anchored on key policy initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and the broader Reset Agenda.

The statement noted that PAGE reflects President Mahama’s determination to draw on deep national and international expertise to support sound economic governance, enhance strategic policy coordination, and promote evidence-based decision-making as Ghana navigates current economic challenges and positions itself for long-term growth and resilience.

Mandate and Functions of PAGE

The Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy will serve as an independent, non-partisan advisory body, reporting directly to the President.

Its core responsibilities include:

Providing strategic advice on macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and coordination between fiscal and monetary policy;

Advising on structural transformation, industrial development, competitiveness, and export-led growth strategies;

Offering guidance on sectoral development, private sector expansion, investment mobilisation, and sustainable job creation;

Supporting the design, sequencing, and implementation of the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and productivity-enhancing reforms;

Conducting periodic assessments of Ghana’s economic performance and proposing policy adjustments or corrective measures where necessary;

Contributing expert input to Ghana’s economic negotiations and engagements with bilateral and multilateral partners, international financial institutions, and investors.

PAGE will submit advisory memoranda, policy briefs, and strategic reviews to the President as and when required.

The group will be chaired by President John Dramani Mahama, underscoring the importance government attaches to coordinated and expert-driven economic policymaking.
