Louisiana Woman Jailed for Allegedly Shooting and Killing 1-Year-Old Daughter

A woman in Louisiana has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting and killing her one-year-old daughter on New Year’s Day, authorities have confirmed.
The suspect, identified as Kristin Bass, is accused of fatally shooting the child at a residence on Quelqueshue Street in Sulphur on the evening of January 1. According to the Sulphur Police Department, officers responded to the home shortly after 8:00 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Police spokesperson Major Jason Gully said the infant victim was later identified as Acelynn Moss, following confirmation by her father, Bradley Moss.
Speaking to investigators, Moss recounted that he heard a loud noise and rushed into a room where he found Bass holding a firearm. Acelynn had been shot, while the couple’s two-year-old child was crying nearby. The older child was not physically harmed.
The Department of Children and Family Services has since taken custody of the surviving child as investigations continue.
Kristin Bass has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in custody. Her bond has been set at $10 million. Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
