Liverpool Can Still Produce ‘Something Special’ Against PSG — Slot

Liverpool FC manager Arne Slot has expressed strong belief that his side can mount a dramatic comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Liverpool head into the decisive clash at Anfield trailing by two goals after a convincing first-leg defeat in Paris. However, Slot remains optimistic about his team’s chances of overturning the deficit.

“In the last 50 home games we have played, 36 times we were able to score two goals or more. Yes, we don’t play PSG in all of those games, but the opponents we have faced have been very strong,” he said.

“Yes, there is a belief we can do special things, but we need to be very, very special because we are playing against the champions of Europe. That makes the task more complicated but not impossible.”

Historically, Liverpool have overturned a two-goal deficit in Europe on only two occasions — against Auxerre in 1991 and in their famous comeback against Barcelona in 2019.

Slot has also called on the Anfield faithful to play a decisive role, drawing inspiration from past European nights.

“They will be just as important as our performance,” he said. “I hope our fans find an extra gear because the atmosphere here can make a huge difference.”

The Liverpool boss stressed the need for a significantly improved performance compared to the first leg, acknowledging PSG’s experience and quality.

A victory would rank among the club’s greatest European comebacks, as Liverpool aim to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
