Late-Night Fire at Kotei Twuduasi Destroys Five Bedrooms, GH¢84,000 Cash & Property in Kumasi
A devastating domestic fire that broke out at about 8:37 p.m. on Thursday night at Kotei Twuduasi, near Fosuaa Homes Hostel in Kumasi, has completely destroyed five bedrooms in a seven-bedroom compound house and reduced property including GH¢84,000 in cash to ashes.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze spread rapidly through the wooden and concrete structure, engulfing most of the building by the time firefighters arrived.
Fire Service Response
Personnel from the KNUST Fire Station, led by ADO I Kwaku Baffour Awuah, reached the scene at 8:58 p.m. and found the fire in an advanced stage. Reinforcements from the Regional Headquarters Substation were quickly mobilised to assist.
Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control by 9:36 p.m. and fully extinguished it at 10:12 p.m..

The affected family is receiving support from community members and local authorities. The GNFS has offered to conduct a free fire safety inspection for similar compound houses in the area to prevent future incidents.
