King Charles III Welcomes Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to Sandringham House
King Charles III welcomed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to Sandringham House in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in the UK as part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations.
This marks the Asantehene’s first visit to the King of England since King Charles III’s coronation in March 2023. The visit coincides with the Asantehene’s engagement in various activities in the UK, including a lecture at the British Museum.
The meeting took place at King Charles’ Sandringham residence, which stands on a 20,000-acre estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On August 4, 2024, the Asantehene will host the sixth Akwasidae Festival of the year in London as part of his 25th Anniversary on the Golden Stool.
During his working visit to the UK, the Asantehene has held talks with the Victoria and Albert Museum, delivered a lecture at the British Museum, and celebrated the Awukudae festival there.
The Asantehene departed from Ghana on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
