Kennedy Agyapong Vows Not to Concede Defeat Until EC Declares Final Results in NPP Flagbearer Race

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, declared on October 15, 2025, during his campaign tour in the Savannah Region, that he will not concede defeat in the January 31, 2026, NPP flagbearer primaries until the Electoral Commission (EC) officially announces the final results from all constituencies.

“Until the last constituency result is declared, if I am a presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat,” Agyapong told delegates, emphasizing that premature concessions are “irresponsible” and undermine the will of the people.

Known for his forthright style, Agyapong, who secured the No. 1 ballot position on October 10, called for “bold men” to lead the NPP, urging delegates to prioritize candidates focused on substantive issues like job creation over personal attacks.

“The delegates must reject any candidate who does not talk about jobs but spends time attacking my personality and saying I am not presidential,” he said, taking a swipe at rivals, notably Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who leads polls at 57% per Global Info Analytics, compared to Agyapong’s 29%.

Agyapong’s campaign, intensified by the recent appointment of Charles Bissue as Campaign Administrator, is gaining traction as he courts delegates nationwide.

The NPP primaries, set for January 31, 2026, with a potential run-off on February 14, feature Agyapong, Bawumia, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. His focus on economic transformation and anti-corruption resonates with supporters, though his defiance has sparked debate.
