Joachim Löw Set to Become New Black Stars Head Coach for 2026 World Cup

Joachim Löw, the legendary former Germany head coach who guided the Mannschaft to victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, is on the verge of being appointed as the new head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Multiple reliable sources have confirmed that negotiations between Löw and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) are in their final stages. The 63-year-old German tactician is expected to sign a short-term contract focused exclusively on leading Ghana through the tournament.

Under the proposed deal, Löw will earn approximately €150,000 per month. Personal terms are said to be close to finalisation following intense discussions over the last 24 hours.

Löw brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record at the highest level of international football. He spent 15 years as Germany’s head coach (2006–2021), during which he transformed the team into one of the most dominant forces in world football, winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and reaching the semi-finals in 2010 and 2016.

His tactical acumen, ability to manage world-class talent, and experience in high-pressure environments are expected to be vital in stabilising the Black Stars, who have struggled with inconsistent results in recent friendlies.

The GFA has been actively searching for a new head coach since parting ways with Otto Addo following a string of poor performances, including heavy defeats to Austria and Germany. With the 2026 World Cup just months away, the association has been under pressure to secure a manager capable of elevating the team’s performance on the global stage.

Löw’s potential appointment would represent a major coup for Ghanaian football, bringing one of the most respected names in world football to the Black Stars bench.

Further details on the contract duration, support staff, and official announcement are expected from the GFA in the coming days.
