Jaman North Health Director Urges Residents to Take Advantage of Free Primary Healthcare

The District Director of the Ghana Health Service for Jaman North, Mr. Robert Kwaku Bio, has urged Ghanaians to fully utilize the government’s free primary healthcare policy, stressing that access to basic healthcare services is now available at no cost.
Mr. Bio made the appeal during the official launch of the government’s free primary healthcare initiative at Morle in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.
Addressing community members, traditional authorities, and health workers, he described the policy as a major step toward achieving universal health coverage and improving the health outcomes of citizens.
According to him, many diseases can be prevented or effectively managed when detected early through regular medical check-ups.
He therefore encouraged residents not to wait until they become seriously ill before visiting a health facility.
“Your health is your wealth. This government has made primary healthcare free, so there is no excuse for anyone to skip medical check-ups. Early detection of diseases such as hypertension, malaria, and diabetes can save lives and reduce the financial burden on families,” he stated.
Mr. Bio also called on community health officers and healthcare workers to intensify outreach activities to ensure that residents, especially those in remote communities, benefit from the initiative.
He emphasized that no individual should be denied access to primary healthcare services because of an inability to pay and warned against the collection of unauthorized fees under the programme.
The Health Director further assured the public that strict sanctions would be imposed on any health worker found violating the policy guidelines.
The free primary healthcare initiative is aimed at removing financial barriers to essential healthcare services and promoting early diagnosis, disease prevention, and improved access to quality healthcare for all citizens.
