Interior Ministry Denies Role in Rent Allowance Tax Deductions

The Ministry of the Interior has denied claims that it is responsible for deducting a 20 percent tax from the rent allowances of security services personnel.
In a statement addressing circulating media reports, the Ministry clarified that it does not have the mandate to impose or deduct taxes on such allowances.
According to the Ministry, the 20 percent tax deduction was carried out at source by the Ministry of Finance, in line with existing tax laws.
The clarification comes amid concerns among security personnel over the deductions, which had sparked confusion and speculation about the responsible authority.
The Ministry of the Interior has therefore urged all affected personnel to remain calm, assuring them that the government remains committed to their welfare.
Officials emphasized that the government will not short-change security personnel and will continue to prioritize their well-being.
