The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has assured the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Andrei Ordash, that Ghana’s democracy remains strong and stable.
The Minister said Ghana has demonstrated its commitment to democratic governance through the peaceful transfer of political power from one administration to another since the country adopted the democratic system.
He noted that although democracy comes with its challenges, the Ghanaian people continue to value peace and stability, which have contributed to the country’s democratic progress.
According to Mr Muntaka, no country can operate in isolation, making international cooperation and the sharing of ideas and information essential to maintaining peace and security.
He stressed the importance of strengthening Ghana’s relations with other countries to enhance the country’s capacity to address emerging security challenges.
The Interior Minister also highlighted the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Russia, which dates back to the era of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
He called for deeper cooperation between the two countries, particularly in security training and other areas of mutual interest.
For his part, the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, Andrei Ordash, commended the Interior Minister for his leadership and focus on maintaining security in the country.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the warm reception and called for increased inter-state cooperation in security to promote the interests of both Ghana and Russia.
The meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen security cooperation between the two countries.
