“I’m Still the MP” – Kpandai’s Matthew Nyindam Vows to Crush Rerun After Court Nullifies 2024 Victory

The embattled Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam (NPP), has shrugged off a Tamale High Court ruling annulling his 2024 election win, declaring he remains firmly in office and would triumph “hands down” in any court-ordered rerun.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nyindam dismissed the judgment as inconsequential, crediting his unshakeable popularity among constituents for his confidence.

“I’m still the MP for Kpandai. What they are doing does not move me. The people of Kpandai know me. The constituency knows my capabilities, and I am confident of returning to Parliament,” he asserted.

The court, in a ruling delivered Monday by Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange, voided the December 7, 2024 results due to proven irregularities in 41 polling stations, including inconsistencies in FORM 8A (Pink Sheets) and non-compliance with Public Elections Regulations (C.I. 127). The Electoral Commission has been directed to conduct a fresh poll within 30 days.

Nyindam, who narrowly edged out NDC’s Daniel Nsala Wakpal in the original tally, maintained that his record of service speaks louder than legal technicalities.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party has rejected the verdict as “fundamentally flawed” and filed a notice of appeal alongside a motion for stay of execution to halt the rerun pending judicial review.

The case, the first full constituency annulment from the 2024 elections, has heightened tensions in Kpandai, with both parties ramping up grassroots mobilisation.
