Husband Accuses Ridge Hospital of Negligence After Wife’s Death Following C-Section

The husband of a 31-year-old woman who died following a Caesarean section at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, has accused the facility and some medical personnel of negligence.
Daniel Ofori Asante made the allegations in a Facebook post on Friday, August 28, 2026, as the family prepared to bury his wife, Theresa Boakye Dua.

The couple had been married for 19 months, and according to Mr Asante, the Caesarean section was Theresa’s first childbirth experience.
He said the family had trusted Ridge Hospital to safely deliver their first child but were left devastated following Theresa’s death.
Mr Asante described what happened as “blatant negligence and unprofessionalism”, although he did not provide specific details of the medical decisions or actions he believes contributed to his wife’s death.
He said he had been struggling to come to terms with the circumstances surrounding the tragedy since July 16, 2026.
The bereaved husband also expressed concern about the impact of Theresa’s death on their newborn son, saying the child had been deprived of the opportunity to grow up with his mother.
He described Theresa as a gentle, peaceful and unproblematic person and alleged that decisions taken by some individuals at Ridge Hospital contributed to the loss of her life.
Mr Asante said the tragedy has also had a profound effect on Theresa’s parents, particularly because she was reportedly their only child.
He recounted the emotional experience of welcoming his father-in-law back to Ghana after he had to cut short his stay abroad following his daughter’s death.
Theresa’s death, he added, has deeply affected her colleagues at the Ministry of Health, members of the ICGC Covenant Temple, as well as relatives and friends.
The family is now dealing with what Mr Asante described as irreparable psychological trauma following the death of the young mother.
The allegations of negligence remain claims by the bereaved husband, and the specific circumstances surrounding Theresa’s death would require appropriate investigation to establish what happened.
