Horror Crash at Bayaard: Eight-Year-Old Boy Among Five Critically Injured After Pickup Truck Rampage

Five people, including an eight-year-old boy, are fighting for their lives in hospital after a serious road accident at Bayaard in the Ablekuma North Municipality.

Eyewitnesses say a Toyota Tundra pickup truck suddenly lost its brakes and ploughed into several parked vehicles and roadside traders along the busy stretch.

The impact left victims with severe injuries, and the scene quickly turned chaotic as bystanders rushed to help.

The Ablekuma North Ambulance Station received an alert shortly after the crash and arrived on the scene within minutes. Paramedics quickly assessed the injured, provided emergency care on the spot, and rushed them to Akawe Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for urgent treatment.

Residents praised the ambulance team for their fast and professional response, saying their quick actions saved lives—especially for the young child and other seriously hurt victims.

Police are investigating the cause of the brake failure, and authorities are reminding drivers to regularly check their vehicles to prevent such tragedies. The community is praying for the full recovery of all those injured.
