HEADMASTER DECRIES ENCROACHMENT OF SCHOOL LAND, APPEALS FOR TRADITIONAL AUTHORITIES’ INTERVENTION

The Headmaster of Wamanafo D/A Junior High School, Mr. Michael Amponsah, has appealed to traditional authorities and community leaders to take urgent steps to protect the school’s land from continuous encroachment by some residents.

According to Mr. Amponsah, the school, which is the only public Junior High School serving the Wamanafo Begyewe community, has witnessed a significant reduction in its land size due to unauthorized occupation and development by individuals.

He expressed concern that the situation could affect future expansion projects, especially as the school continues to record increasing student enrolment. He noted that the availability of land is essential for the construction of additional classroom blocks and other educational facilities that may be provided by the government or development partners.

Mr. Amponsah further highlighted the lack of adequate sporting facilities at the school. He explained that students currently do not have access to a football pitch because the field previously used by the school has been allocated to a local football club. He stressed that the absence of a sports ground is negatively affecting the development of sporting talents among students.

The headmaster therefore called on relevant authorities to facilitate access to a football field for the school to support extracurricular activities and talent development.

He also appealed to the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Hon. Rachel Ama Owusuaa, to assist in addressing lighting challenges facing the school. According to him, improved lighting would enhance security and create a better learning environment for both students and staff.

Mr. Amponsah expressed hope that swift intervention from traditional leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders would help preserve the school’s land and improve conditions for effective teaching and learning.
