Gunmen storm Akyem Pusupusu, fire shots and threaten chief; four suspects arrested

Tension is rising in Akyem Pusupusu near Asiakwa in the Abuakwa South Municipality after suspected gunmen reportedly invaded the community, fired gunshots, and threatened the life of the chief.

Residents say the attackers struck at night, sparking panic as people fled for safety, while properties were destroyed and key individuals targeted.

According to the Bretuo Abusuapanin, Nana Kwame Oduro, the incident marks the second such attack on the community, following a similar case last year.

The caretaker of the chief’s palace, Samuel Owusu Boadi, confirmed that the palace was also attacked, with gunmen firing shots and issuing threats against the chief and other traditional leaders.

The matter has been reported to the police and traditional authorities. Four suspects have since been arrested and granted bail as investigations continue.

Residents are now calling for heightened security to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of lives and property
