GTEC Approves University of Ghana Fees for 2025/2026 – No Increase in Academic Facility User Fee

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has officially released the approved fee structure for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, maintaining the Academic Facility User Fee at the 2024/2025 rate with no increment.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, 2026, and signed by Director General Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC outlined the following approved charges:

Student Representative Council (SRC) dues – GH₵50

SRC Development Levy – GH₵150

Graduate Students (GRASAG) Development Levy – GH₵250

Telecel Broadband Levy (applicable to undergraduate students, including freshmen) – GH₵122

75th Anniversary Levy – GH₵100 (one-time charge for the 2025/2026 academic year only)

GTEC emphasized that the decision to freeze the Academic Facility User Fee aims to provide clarity, reduce financial pressure on students, and resolve ongoing concerns about the university’s fee structure.

The Commission urged university authorities to educate students on their rights, including the option to opt out of specific levies where applicable.

“This announcement seeks to resolve issues surrounding the 2025/2026 fee schedule for the University of Ghana. We are counting on the usual cooperation of all stakeholders to implement it effectively,” the statement concluded.

The release is seen as a step toward greater transparency and compliance in tertiary education fee regulation, with expectations that it will ease tensions among students and parents ahead of the new academic year.
