GRIDCo Announces Emergency Maintenance at Tema Substation; Temporary Power Outages Expected
The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced emergency maintenance works at the Smelter II Substation in Tema scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
According to the company, the exercise is part of efforts to improve the reliability of electricity supply and strengthen the national power transmission network.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, GRIDCo said some residents and businesses in parts of Tema may experience temporary power outages between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. while the maintenance works are carried out.
The company explained that the exercise is necessary to maintain the stability and efficiency of power transmission in the area.
GRIDCo apologised for the inconvenience and assured affected customers that engineers and technical teams would work quickly to complete the maintenance and restore electricity within the shortest possible time.
The company also thanked the public for their cooperation and understanding during the exercise.
