Government to Build New Girls’ Dormitories at NOBISCO and 12-Unit Classroom Block at Labone SHS

The Government, through the Ministry of Education, has announced plans to construct new girls’ dormitories at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) in the Savannah Region and a 12-unit classroom block at Labone Senior High School in Greater Accra.

The decision follows recent devastating fire outbreaks at both schools, which displaced hundreds of students, destroyed property, and disrupted academic activities.

The Ministry stated that the interventions are aimed at restoring safe and conducive learning environments while ensuring continuity in teaching and learning.

“The Ministry of Education assures students, parents, staff and the general public that measures are being taken to fast-track the reconstruction process. Improved safety standards will also be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the statement read.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of learners and strengthening educational infrastructure nationwide, particularly during emergency situations.

Work on the projects is expected to begin soon, with timelines to be communicated as preparations advance. The announcement has been welcomed by affected school communities, parents, and education stakeholders as a timely response to the recent crises.
