Gospel Singer Maame Tiwaa Laid to Rest in Ashanti Region Today

Gospel musician Maame Tiwaa, a member of the renowned group Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo, will be laid to rest today, Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the Ashanti Region.
The late singer, born Adwoa Tiwaa, will have her burial service held at Presby Park Bantama at 9:00 a.m., after her body is laid in state at the same venue earlier in the morning.
Following the service, she will be interred at Domeabra Ahafoman.
Final funeral rites are scheduled to continue at Presby Park from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where sympathisers are expected to pay their last respects.
A thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Sokoban Ampayoo, specifically at the New Jerusalem Church, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., after which funeral activities will continue in Bantama.
Maame Tiwaa passed away at the age of 60. She was widely admired for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence, earning her a special place in Ghana’s gospel music industry.
Her passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow musicians, and the public, many of whom have praised her lasting contribution to gospel music in Ghana.
