Gospel Musician Edward Akwasi Boateng Announces Divorce to Avoid Posthumous Estate Disputes

Veteran Ghanaian gospel artist Edward Akwasi Boateng has declared his intention to formally divorce his estranged wife, citing fears of posthumous legal battles over his estate amid the ongoing family feud surrounding the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM on October 14, 2025, Boateng revealed plans to visit the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to initiate proceedings, stating, “Looking at what’s happening, I’ve decided to go to the KMA to end my marriage… She left me, so I’ll take the step to legally dissolve the marriage.” His decision is influenced by the escalating dispute between Daddy Lumba’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, and the family, who recognize Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni) as the legitimate spouse, leading to a court injunction over funeral rites.
Boateng, who has endured years of marital strife, recounted losing 17 cars and all assets after his wife encouraged lavish spending before relocating to the U.S. and abandoning him, leaving him in financial ruin and struggling to pay his children’s school fees. “It’s worrying that after separating from your wife, when you die, she might show up to fight with your family, claiming to be the rightful wife. I won’t allow that,” he said.
