Ghana Qualify for 2026 World Cup Round of 32, Set to Face Colombia

Ghana has advanced to the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dramatic end to the group stage, where they will face Colombia in the knockout phase.

Colombia secured top spot in Group K with seven points following a goalless draw against Portugal at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Portugal finished second with five points to also qualify.

Despite a 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match, Ghana progressed as one of the best third-placed teams with four points from three games.

England topped Group L with seven points after a 2-0 win over Panama, while Croatia finished second with six points. Panama exited the tournament without a point.

In the match against Croatia, the Europeans took the lead in the 31st minute through a long-range strike from Petar Sučić. Ghana responded strongly after the break and equalised in the 73rd minute when Derrick Luckassen headed in on his World Cup debut.

However, Croatia restored their lead in the 83rd minute through Nikola Vlašić, who capitalised on a corner to secure the victory.

Ghana will now travel to Kansas City for their Round of 32 clash against Colombia on Friday, July 3.
