Ghana Launches National World Cup Raffle to Fund Black Stars and Rally Nationwide Support

The Ghanaian government has officially launched a national World Cup raffle aimed at mobilising both financial support and fan enthusiasm for the Black Stars as the country prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The initiative was unveiled at a colourful ceremony by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, who described it as a unifying national project designed to bring Ghanaians closer to the team’s World Cup campaign.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko, who chairs the World Cup Fundraising Committee, explained that the raffle gives ordinary supporters a direct stake in the campaign.

Participants will be able to purchase tickets for a chance to win attractive prizes, including football memorabilia, travel experiences, and fully sponsored trips to the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Officials emphasised that the raffle goes beyond fundraising, positioning the tournament as a major opportunity to project Ghana positively on the global stage. The Sports Minister highlighted the potential benefits for tourism, cultural promotion, and international exposure for local brands and the creative industry.

Addressing potential concerns about transparency, Kofi Iddie Adams assured the public that the raffle will be conducted under strict oversight with credible partners to guarantee fairness and full accountability.

“Safeguards have been put in place to ensure transparency and to honour all commitments made to participants,” he stated.

Proceeds from the raffle are expected to support the Black Stars’ preparation and contribute to the long-term development of sports infrastructure and programmes across the country.

The Minister called on citizens, corporate organisations, and football fans to rally behind the initiative, describing it as a shared national effort.

With Ghana gearing up for another appearance at football’s biggest stage, organisers say the raffle is a creative way to strengthen belief in the Black Stars and foster a sense of collective ownership in the team’s quest for success at the 2026 World Cup.

Further details on ticket sales, prize categories, and draw dates are expected to be announced in the coming days.
