GFA Unveils Star-Studded Technical Team for Black Stars Revamp

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a major overhaul of the Black Stars’ technical team, bringing in a host of experienced global experts to revamp the team’s fortunes.

Following a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, the GFA has appointed renowned German manager Winfried Anton Schäfer as Technical Advisor and Director of Football. Schäfer, who led Cameroon to AFCON glory in 2002, will work closely with Head Coach Otto Addo to build a formidable team.

The technical team has been bolstered by the addition of Desmond Ofei, a highly acclaimed coach who recently led Ghana’s U-20 side to success, as assistant coach. Ofei’s analytical expertise and fresh perspective are expected to bring a new dimension to the senior team. Belgian sports psychologist Kris Perquy, with 17 years of experience, has also joined the team, bringing his expertise in football psychology to enhance the team’s mental preparation.

Furthermore, Gregory De Grauwe, a UEFA License B coach and video analyst, will lead the team’s video analysis unit, providing valuable insights to inform coaching decisions. The backroom team has been strengthened by the appointment of two seasoned equipment officers, Issah Amadou and Abdul Rahman Alhassan, who bring a combined 53 years of experience to the role.

The GFA’s bold move to revamp the technical team is aimed at restoring the Black Stars’ pride and competitiveness on the international stage. With a wealth of experience and expertise now at their disposal, the team is poised to make a strong comeback in upcoming tournaments
