GES Approves National CPD Day for Private School Teachers on 30 October

The Ghana Education Service has approved Friday, 30 October 2026, as a National Continuous Professional Development Day for private school teachers across the country.

In a circular dated 13 October 2026 and signed by the Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), on behalf of the Director-General, Management of the Ghana Education Service informed Regional Directors of the approval.

The decision follows a request from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools for the day to be observed as a holiday for learners while teachers undergo professional development.

The Director-General granted approval for private school teachers to observe the CPD Day on the theme “Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being of Teachers.” The training is intended to equip teachers with practical strategies to promote their mental health and well-being, enhance their resilience and foster a supportive school environment.

Regional Directors have been requested to bring the information to the attention of all Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education within their respective regions and ensure the necessary coordination for the smooth implementation of the programme.

Metro, Municipal and District Directors are to liaise with the relevant District Training Officers to coordinate, organise and monitor the participation of private schools in their respective districts.

Management is counting on the usual cooperation and support of the Regional Directors.
