Franklin Cudjoe Blames EC for Kpandai Election Controversy

IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of administrative lapses that triggered the ongoing controversy surrounding the Kpandai parliamentary seat, arguing that poor collation management, not candidate misconduct, is at fault.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Cudjoe said the EC deserves criticism for allowing irregularities to escalate, describing the process as a “disservice” to the original winner.

“The collation issues tell me that the fault lies with the Electoral Commission. They should be chastised for letting this happen,” he stated.

He expressed support for NPP candidate Matthew Nyindam, whom he believes legitimately won in 2024, predicting another victory in the upcoming rerun. “I hope he wins—of course, if he does, that’s fine. I don’t know where the NDC wants to carry all these majority seats to,” Cudjoe added.

The dispute arose from a Tamale High Court order annulling the 2024 results after NDC candidate Nsala Wakpal petitioned, claiming collation occurred without his or his representative’s presence. Parliament declared the seat vacant, prompting the EC to schedule a rerun for December 30, 2025, featuring the same three candidates.

Cudjoe’s remarks highlight broader concerns over electoral oversight as tensions persist ahead of the poll.
