The Nsuta Circuit Court in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region has remanded four men accused of participating in an armed robbery operation during which a policewoman was allegedly sexually assaulted at gunpoint.
The accused are 30-year-old tailor Issah Musah; 33-year-old alluvial miner Clinton Mawuli Ashirow; 33-year-old mobile money vendor and former military officer Duker Prince; and 25-year-old student Wilfred Quansah.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, at about 10:30 p.m., when the policewoman, stationed at the Offinso Divisional Police Command, was returning home after duty.
Musah Allegedly Part of Seven-Member Gang
The prosecution told the court that Musah, who was arrested at DePaul in Offinso on August 18, 2026, is allegedly a member of a seven-man armed robbery gang targeting gold shops and mining sites across parts of the Ashanti, Central and Western North regions.
The gang is alleged to have operated in areas including Manso in the Ashanti Region, Diaso, Ayanfuri and Assin Kusha in the Central Region, and Wassa Akropong in the Western North Region.
Prosecutors further alleged that Musah was recruited into the group by one Seidu Salifu, who is now deceased.
GH¢20m Gold Allegedly Stolen
The court also heard that on January 28, 2026, Musah and six other alleged members of the gang attacked a gold merchant’s shop at Diaso.
According to the prosecution, five of the alleged robbers were armed with AK-47 rifles during the operation.
The gang allegedly made away with gold valued at approximately GH¢20 million.
The prosecution’s allegations form part of ongoing investigations into the activities of the suspected robbery group.
The four accused persons have been remanded in custody as investigations continue.
They are yet to be convicted, and the allegations against them will be subject to determination by the court.
