FOUR BURNT TO DEATH, ONE INJURED AFTER FIERY HEAD-ON CRASH NEAR ANYINASIN JUNCTION

Four people have died while one person is receiving treatment following a tragic head-on collision between two vehicles near Anyinasin Junction in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The crash involved a Hyundai Mighty truck with registration number GE 1913-16 travelling from Asamankese towards Bunso and a Man Diesel trailer with registration number GS 236-12 heading from Kumasi to Accra.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer allegedly veered off its lane and collided head-on with the oncoming truck, forcing it into a nearby bush. The impact sparked a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Bunso Fire Station responded swiftly after receiving a distress call at 05:49 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 06:00 a.m. and managed to bring the blaze under control by 06:25 a.m., fully extinguishing it at 06:50 a.m.
Four occupants trapped in the Hyundai truck were burnt beyond recognition. A female survivor, who was rescued by bystanders before firefighters arrived, is currently receiving treatment at the Akim Asafo Health Centre.
Three occupants of the trailer reportedly escaped unhurt before the vehicle was completely consumed by the fire.
The charred bodies were retrieved and handed over to the Ghana Police Service for preservation and further investigations. Both vehicles were completely destroyed.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and subsequent fire outbreak.
