Florentino Pérez Speaks Out on Negreira Case, Refereeing and Criticism of Real Madrid

Florentino Pérez has strongly defended Real Madrid while renewing criticism of the ongoing Negreira case involving FC Barcelona.

Speaking on the controversy, Pérez claimed Real Madrid members continue to support his stance against what he described as issues surrounding the Negreira affair and refereeing in Spanish football.

“Real Madrid members are with me in my war against Negreira and everything related to it,” he stated.

He further alleged that Barcelona had benefited from the situation over the years and suggested that European football authorities could eventually step in.

“Barça always benefits. UEFA will intervene in this matter,” Pérez said.

The Real Madrid president questioned how a club could remain under investigation over alleged payments linked to refereeing matters for such a long period without serious consequences.

“You cannot be under suspicion of paid corruption for 20 years,” he added, while indicating that Real Madrid intends to submit a report on the matter to UEFA.

Pérez also dismissed suggestions that he had “disappeared” following Real Madrid’s recent setbacks, insisting that criticism over a few defeats or finishing second in La Liga was exaggerated.

“Why do I have to appear? Because we lost two or three games? Because we ended up second in La Liga?” he asked.

The veteran football administrator highlighted his success at the club, describing himself as the president with the most titles in Real Madrid’s history.

He additionally criticised sections of the media, accusing some journalists of unfairly targeting Real Madrid and spreading anti-club narratives.

“The journalists are terrible. They are doing horrible work,” Pérez remarked.
